Wine of the Week: Rosehall Run Liberated Chardonnay

Local Ontario rdonnay

Right now I’m looking for wines that are local, food friendly and well priced. The Rosehall Run Liberated Unoaked Chardonnay checks all those boxes. Rosehall Run is a minimal intervention winery in Prince Edward County that specializes in terroir driven wines. The Liberated Chardonnay is unoaked, meaning it does not have any of those rich buttery flavours you might associate with a Chardonnay. Instead it’s an extra dry wine with layers of crisp flavours like lemon, green apple and pear. The fresh acidity allows the Rosehall Run Liberated Chardonnay to pair well with a wide variety of different foods. Try it with a lunch salad or an afternoon cheeseboard (because these times do call for a bit of day drinking!). For dinner this Chardonnay is great with any white meat dishes, fish/seafood and light pastas. And the price is right on the Liberated Unoaked Chardonnay! It’s available for purchase directly through the winery for great value at only $14.95 a bottle. Rosehall Run is currently offering free shipping in Ontario for orders of 6+ bottles. While the Liberated Chardonnay is amazing, I realize you may not want 6 bottles of it! So some other wines from Rosehall Run I recommend are the Pixie Sparkling Rosé ($19.95), Defiant Pinot Noir ($19.95) and The Certain Ratio Red Blend ($36.00). It’s no longer available online through the LCBO, but if you’re still making safe visits you can find it in store.
