To kick off the holiday season, I host a Christmas wine tasting event every year. And this year I chose a Rosé theme! Many people think that Rosé is just for summer, so I wanted to show how well Rosé works for the Christmas season. In Ontario, we make a lot of medium-bodied Rosés that pair perfectly with holiday cheeseboards, a variety of appetizers and the big turkey dinner. My Rosé All Holiday Party featured eight of my favourite Ontario rosés. It was a very festive pink evening where everyone got to discover new rosés from Ontario. I think I was definitely able to make a case to Rosé all Holiday!
When guests arrived they were greeted with a Rosé Gin Christmas Cocktail as their welcome drink. The cocktail went over very well! You can find the super easy recipe HERE. I had out some appetizers to munch on throughout the evening including shrimp, sausage rolls, artichoke and asiago dip, Italian sausage, taramasalata, triple cream brie with Christmas chutney, spanakopita, and mini quiche.
Once everyone had arrived, the Rosé tasting began! We had had eight different Ontario Rosés to try – all some of my favourite pink drinks that Ontario has to offer. And I definitely made some new fans! Each wine had an information card letting guests know the wine name, producer, style, varietal, tasting profile, pairing suggestion and price. We tasted Rosés from Sandbanks, Henry of Pelham, Colio, Pelee Island, The Roost, 13th Street, Lakeview, and Rosewood. Everyone loved the wines and discovering the Rosés of Ontario!
I had such a fun evening at my Rosé all Holiday tasting event! It was great to see guests enjoying the wines and learning about Ontario Rosés. We have great Rosés in Ontario that are perfect for the holiday season. Thank you to all the wineries that participated in the event – you have made some new fans. I highly encourage everyone to Rosé all Holiday!
